Trek-4-Dylan
There is a mountain to climb, and the first step was made when
Crown Direct pledged £3,000 to the Trek-4-Dylan campaign.

Dylan's father, Quentin Stott and Kevin Temple of Deith Leisure (a
division of Crown Direct) plan to raise £25,000 with Trek-4-Dylan, a
fundraising attempt to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in August this year.
Quentin and Kevin plan to climb Mount Kilimanjaro via the seldom-used
Umbwe route and via Western Breach, arguably the most challenging
trekking route up the volcano. At 5,895m/19,340ft, Kilimanjaro is the
world’s highest free-standing mountain and Africa’s highest point. The
trip itself is 13 days long and includes a three-day acclimatization
preparation by the ascent of nearby Mount Meru (4,556m/14,947ft).

Off to a flying start:

with a cheque for £3000 to launch the fundraising for Trek-4-Dylan.

"Clearly everyone who knows Quentin and Surjit was absolutely
devastated to hear of Dylan’s tragic death. It brought to our attention
how dangerous this disease is. When we heard of Kevin and Quentin’s
courageous trek we simply felt compelled to help the effort get off to a
good start", said Dean Harding, sales director.
Meningitis UK is inviting scientists from established research units
nationwide to apply for financial support. Scientific merit permitting,
Meningitis UK will be awarding more money than ever before and plan to
commit a minimum of £450,000 this financial year into finding a vaccine
to protect against all forms of meningitis and meningococcal
septicaemia. The aim of this award is the support of innovative or 'high
risk' research that complements an already established meningococcal or
pneumococcal research programme.
We desperately need others to sponsor our climb in order that we
can raise the £25,000 we are hoping to donate to Meningitis UK.
